About Amagarh Leopard Reserve

The Amagarh Leopard Reserve, located near Galta Ji in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It is India’s second leopard reserve, spanning 1,524 hectares (16.36 sq. km.).

It was designated as a Leopard Reserve in 2018 and officially opened for visitors on May 22, 2022. The reserve was established to promote wildlife conservation and eco-tourism, making Rajasthan a premier wildlife destination. 

The rugged terrain of Amagarh in the Aravalli Hills offers a breathtaking natural habitat for wildlife enthusiasts and a thrilling safari experience.

 ·  Carnivores: Includes striped hyenas, desert foxes, jungle cats, and jackals.

 · Herbivores: Features Nilgai (blue bull), Sambar deer, and porcupines.

 ·  Reptiles: Presence of monitor lizards and various snake species.

How to Reach Amagarh Leopard Reserve

By Air: Jaipur International Airport, located about 16km away in Sanganer, is the closest airport to Amagarh Leopard Reserve. From the airport, taxis and cabs are readily available to take visitors directly to Galtaji, where the reserve is situated. This airport is well-connected to major cities across India and various international destinations, ensuring convenient access for both domestic and international visitors.

By Rail: Jaipur Junction, the nearest railway station to the reserve, is only 11 km away from the safari's entrance. The station boasts excellent connections, with direct trains available from major cities like Delhi, Udaipur, and Mumbai. Upon arrival, visitors can find local buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws for the short journey to the reserve.

By Road: The reserve is well-connected by road to major Indian cities and towns. State-run and private buses, as well as taxis, offer easy transportation options to the park. Here are some approximate road distances from key cities:

 

Best Time to Visit Amagarh Leopard Reserve

The winter months from November to February are ideal for visiting Amagarh Leopard Reserve. During this period, the weather is cool and pleasant, which enhances the safari experience and increases the chances of spotting wildlife.

 

Timings and Entry Fee of Amagarh Leopard Safari

Safari Timings: Amagarh Leopard Safari operates seasonally with varying timings in two shifts: 

·  Aug 1 to Oct 31: 6:45 AM - 9:15 AM | 3:45 PM - 6:15 PM 

·  Nov 1 to Jan 31: 7:00 AM - 9:30 AM | 3:15 PM - 5:45 PM 

·  Feb 1 to Mar 31: 6:15 AM - 8:45 AM | 3:45 PM - 6:15 PM 

·  Apr 1 to May 31: 5:45 AM - 8:15 AM | 4:15 PM - 6:45 PM 

·  May 1 to Jul 31: 5:45 AM - 8:15 AM | 4:45 PM - 7:15 PM

Entry fee and other charges:

·  Indian: INR 1350 per passenger or INR 7000 for a full Jeep. 

·  Foreigner: INR 2500 per passenger or INR 12000 for a full Jeep.

Online Booking: Safari is divided into three zones/routes and booking can be made for any zone. Booking is managed by forest officials, available through the government portal. No refunds or cancellations are allowed once booked. It is recommended to book at least 7 days ahead, especially for weekends.

Vehicle Assignment: There are 10 jeeps per shift, each seating 6 persons. Automated system manages vehicle and driver allocation.

Identification: Valid ID necessary for booking; passports required for foreign visitors.
