Jwalamukhi is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Jwalamukhi, the Goddess of flaming face. The temple lies on a small spur on Dharamsala-Shimla road, in Kangra valley, attracting thousands of pilgrims every year. Legend has it that Sati’s tongue fell on this holy site, consequently leading to the creation of Jwalamukhi. Her power is felt through tiny flames that burn a dazzling blue, through fissures in the ancient rock. The temple is home to a little platform in front, and a large brass bell, a gift from the King of Nepal.
