Let’s begin with the good news first. The plateau which houses the ruins of the Hatgad Fort is easily accessible by road. So, from the base, you’ll take about 30 minutes to reach the narrow, uneven flight of 200 stairs that lead up to the fort. Fear not, the Hatgad Fort Trek is not difficult and can be completed by even your kids. The steps can be a little slippery during the rains, so do be careful then.

Once on top, you’ll come across remnants like a water reservoir along with small cisterns, ramparts and a tower which was used to store grains. The main entrance gate has a Hanuman idol carved in rock. There’s also a statue of Lord Ganesha on the top of the fort.
